BRIDGEWATER — Town Manager Michael Dutton, Water & Sewer Superintendent Jonas Kazlauskas and DPW Director Azu Etoniru are pleased to announce that the Town of Bridgewater has installed a Bluedrop water filtration system for use by residents.
Bluedrop water filtration systems filter out per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS, to non-detectable levels.
While the Town of Bridgewater has tested below PFAS guidelines since mid-May 2022, the system was installed to ensure residents with immune system issues or other sensitivities have access to PFAS-free water.
The machine is located at the Town’s Highway Barn at 151 High St.
“We are pleased to now be offering the Bluedrop water filtration system to our residents who may have a need for PFAS-free water,” Superintendent Kazlauskas said. “While our Town’s water supply meets the state’s guidelines for PFAS levels, this machine will be an additional resource and we encourage residents to begin taking advantage of it immediately should they have the need.”
The machine is now open to the public. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week; once full lighting is in place at the site, the hours of operation will be 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
There is no limit to the amount of water jugs residents can fill, but those using the machine are asked to be courteous to others who may be waiting in line.
All questions and/or concerns regarding the Bluedrop machine or town water supply should be directed to the water supply department. The water supply department can be reached by calling 508-697-0910 or emailing waterdepartment@bridgewaterma.org. Residents are asked not to enter the Highway Department office with questions relating to the machine.
The machine and area will be under 24-hour security camera surveillance.
