BELMONT – The Belmont Public Library and Library Director Peter Struzziero invite the community to attend a special virtual event on youth mental health topics tonight.
“Understanding Tween Mental Health: Building the Parent Toolkit,” takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 6:30-7:15 p.m.
The presenters will be Public Health Educator Lisa Gibalerio and Prevention Specialist Maeve Kennelly, both from the Belmont Wellness Coalition, a program of Wayside Youth and Family Support Network. The Coalition works to prevent and reduce youth substance misuse – and to promote healthy choices and positive decision-making – among Belmont youth, through evidence-based education and prevention efforts.
Gibalerio and Kennelly will focus on mental health issues involving children in Grades 3-7. They will discuss how to normalize talking about mental health, typical versus atypical behavior, and how to best support children who are struggling.
