TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department is investigating a reported robbery that occurred in the parking lot of a shopping plaza on Main Street last week.

On Friday, March 4, at approximately 3 p.m., Tewksbury Police responded to a report of a robbery in the parking lot outside of Walmart on Main Street.

Officers responded and spoke to a man who said he was approached in the parking lot by an unidentified woman and a man, who started a brief conversation. The woman then handed the victim a small amount of cash and some jewelry that she said was a gift. Immediately afterward, the woman grabbed a gold chain and pendant the victim was wearing and ripped it off his neck before fleeing on foot.

The unidentified woman and the man she was with then fled the parking lot in what appeared to be a blue, 4-door, hatchback Mazda, possibly a Mazda CX-5.

The stolen gold chain and pendant are 24 karat gold, and estimated to be worth a significant amount.

Tewksbury Police are investigating whether this incident is connected to similar robberies recently reported in Middleton, Walpole, Attleboro and Westbrook, Maine.

Tewksbury Police urge anyone who has information on this incident to call police dispatchers at 978-851-7373. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the tip line at 978-851-0175, or email: tewks_detectives@tewksbury-ma.gov
