SUDBURY – Goodnow Library is pleased to announce that it will host a Passport Day, giving the public the opportunity to easily obtain a U.S. Passport.
Passport Day will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is open to all, regardless of town residency.
Goodnow Library is an authorized passport acceptance facility. Seven Library staff members are trained passport agents. The Library hosts Passport Days to offer services to those unable to visit during the week.
Those attending Passport Day are asked to bring:
- A completed Form DS-11 printed or filled out in black ink. Form DS-11 must be signed in front of a passport agent. Forms are available at the library and the State Department’s website.
- Proof of identification, usually a driver’s license or previously issued valid passport, but also Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship, U.S. Military ID, or government employee ID. All must have an identifiable photo. Special rules apply for minors; please visit travel.state.gov for more information.
- Evidence of U.S. citizenship, usually an original birth certificate (no photocopies), original Certificate of Naturalization, or previously issued valid passport. Additional documentation or a file search fee may be required if these cannot be provided.
- A photograph of each applicant. See Form DS-11 for details. The library is unable to take passport photos.
Payment must be made by check or money order, payable to the U.S. Department of State. It is strongly encouraged that a separate check/money order be made out for each applicant.
Patrons eligible to renew their passport may not need to visit a Passport Acceptance Facility – please follow the directions to complete application and mail, found on Form DS-82. Please visit the Department of State’s renewal page for details.
“We have received many requests from the community for passport services, in anticipation of travel restrictions lifting worldwide,” Library Director Esmé Green said. “The community loves Passport Day because it’s convenient, plus we have comfortable seating and plenty to read while they are waiting.”
