WHITMAN — The Town of Whitman is pleased to announce that at-home COVID-19 self-test kits will be available for Whitman residents to pick up on Friday while supplies last.
The Town of Whitman has purchased a limited supply of at-home rapid COVID-19 test kits and will be distributing a portion of the kits to the community this Friday, Dec. 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Whitman Middle School, 100 Corthell Ave.
Residents are asked to enter the Whitman Middle School property via Corthell Avenue, off Temple Street (Route 27). The Town of Whitman respectfully asks that residents do not arrive at the school early.
Any Whitman resident is eligible to receive a kit, which includes two tests. Residents are limited to one self-test kit per vehicle. Kits will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis while supplies last. Residents will be required to show proof of residency at the beginning of the line when picking up the self-test kits.
At-home COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are a fast, easy, and convenient way to screen for COVID-19 and one of many risk-reducing measures that can be used to protect family and friends amid the holiday season.
If the result of a test is positive, the test-taker should follow the guidelines for a positive case by isolating for at least 10 days and informing all close contacts (those individuals who have been within 6 feet of you for more than 15 minutes in a 24-hour period). A limited amount of home testing kits will also be delivered with the meals on wheels food delivery program for homebound residents.
Anyone with additional questions can contact Whitman’s emergency management line at 781-447-7682 but should note that the line isn’t always monitored.
