TYNGSBOROUGH – Superintendent Jill Davis and Assistant Superintendent/Principal Michael Barton share that Greater Lowell Technical High School’s SkillsUSA chapter installed Executive Council members recently.
Executive Council members for the 2021-2022 school year were installed on Wednesday, Nov. 4. They are:
President: Abbey Gingras, senior, Information Technology Services
Vice President: Trina Tran, senior, Medical Assisting
Secretary: Jasmine Sanchez, sophomore, Marketing Education
Treasurer: Madyson Arpin, senior, Information Technology Services
Parliamentarian: Elizabeth Hughes, junior, Information Technology Services
Reporter/Historian: Samantha Deluca, junior, Marketing Education
Ambassador: Ryan Hughes, senior, Electrical
“Council members are leaders within SkillsUSA, but also show leadership throughout the school,” Superintendent Davis said. “Their commitment to excellence in their academic classes, technical programs, and personal lives shows through every day.”
Incoming Council members swore the oath of office, and participated in a ceremony symbolizing each member’s individual contributions and how they blend to create a cohesive team. Alumni members from the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years poured colored sand into a container, followed by incoming members adding their own colors.
The ceremony also included an introduction of the chapter’s advisors: Sharon Cornellier, Student Activities/English Language Arts; Amy Correggio, Health/Pre-Nursing Instructor; Keila Tesini, Health/Pre-Nursing Instructor; and Rick Martin, Marketing Education Director.
Earlier this year Greater Lowell Tech’s SkillsUSA chapter was named a national Model of Excellence for the fifth consecutive year, recognizing the chapter’s exemplary work in supporting the SkillsUSA framework of developing personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics. The framework supports the intentional learning of critical workplace skills sought by technical industries.
SkillsUSA is one of the largest student leadership organizations for career and technical education in the nation. The organization strives to prepare young people with the skills they need to succeed at work and in life through innovative programming, high-quality education materials, teacher instructional support and industry partnerships.
