MATTAPOISETT — Superintendent Michael S. Nelson reports that the Old Rochester Regional School District and MA Superintendency Union #55 has increased its substitute teacher rates and is actively seeking applicants to temporarily fill multiple vacancies throughout the district.
For the 2021-2022 school year, positions are open for substitute teachers, substitute nurses (RN’s), substitute paraprofessionals, substitute cafeteria staff and substitute custodial staff.
The new rates effective this school year are:
- Non-certified teacher: $120 per day
- Certified teacher: $150 per day
- Nurse: $200 per day
- Paraprofessional: $13.50 per hour
- Cafeteria and custodial staff: $13.50 per hour
“We are pleased to have been able to raise the rates for our substitute staff this year with the hopes of attracting passionate and eager individuals to fill these roles across our district,” Human Resources Coordinator Susana Cunningham said. “We encourage anyone who is interested and qualified to apply.”
All substitutes must pass CORI and national fingerprint background checks.
Teacher substitutes must have acquired a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or completed two full years of study at an accredited college or university.
Nurse substitutes must have a current license (RN) to practice nursing in Massachusetts, as well as a current CPR certification. Experience is preferred.
“We have wonderful fulltime staff in our district, and our substitute staff in all of our schools and departments are incredibly valuable resources for our district as well,” Superintendent Nelson said. “We are always looking for qualified and interested people to fill these roles.”
Those who are interested in any of the above substitute positions can send a letter of interest, resume and three letters of recommendation to Human Resources Coordinator Susana Cunningham, 135 Marion Road, Mattapoisett, MA 02739, or via email to susanacunningham@oldrochester.org.
