MELROSE — The Melrose Police Department is pleased to share that Chief Michael L. Lyle enjoyed a fun, family-style dinner with a family who won a “Pizza with the Chief” raffle at a community event.
In September, as part of the City of Melrose and Melrose Chamber of Commerce’s annual Victorian Fair that highlights local businesses, Chief Lyle offered to have a relaxing, sit-down dinner with the winner of a raffle.
The Sullivan family of Melrose won the raffle, and were joined by a few of their close friends, Chief Lyle and his wife and some Melrose Police Department staff for a delicious meal of pizza, salad, bread and dipping oils at Bobby C’s Ristorante, 20 Main St. Melrose.
Melrose Officer Sean Morris and his K-9 partner Giselle — the department’s newly trained explosives detection K-9 — were special guests and were warmly greeted by the guests and Bobby C’s exceptional staff. The guests were interested in Officer Morris and Giselle’s recent work helping out at the Boston Marathon and Topsfield Fair.
The Sullivan family’s son and one of his close friends who attended the dinner were interested in details about the police station and cell block, and wanted to know what happens when someone calls 911 for help.
“I always look forward to this annual event because Community Policing is an important part of this department and I’m a firm believer in being accessible and available to everyone in our city,” said Chief Lyle. “It’s always a pleasure to have a relaxed conversation with Melrose residents and to share everything our Police Department and community have to offer.”
Chief Lyle plans to sit down with another family next year as a way of both meeting community members and contributing to the Victorian Fair.
