
CANTON — The Town of Canton wishes to invite community members to this weekend’s Canton Community 9/11 20 Year Anniversary Commemoration.
Throughout the weekend, the town will host several events to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and honor the 2,977 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center, Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.
Friday, Sept. 10
A candlelight vigil will take place tonight at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park at Canton Corner Cemetery, 1600 Washington St. The vigil will be led by Veteran’s Agent Arafat Knight in remembrance of those lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
Saturday, Sept. 11
The community’s 9/11 Day of Remembrance will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Paul Revere Heritage Site, 96 Revere St.
A Remembrance Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. The ceremony will include a moment of silence, singing of the national anthem by Canton resident Becky King and invocation. Additionally, a symbolic 5-5-5 alarm will be struck, the flag will be lowered to half-mast, Echo Taps will be performed and remarks will be made by local and state officials.

- Sen. Walter F. Timilty
- Rep. William C. Galvin
- Police Chief Kenneth Berkowitz
- Michael Molway of FM Generator
- Bob DeYeso, World War II, U.S. Army
- Christine Keaney, War on Terror, United States Marine Corps
The Town of Canton will also remember Michael A. Uliano, of Canton, who died in the North Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
Additional events will include:
- Museum Display of 9/11 History
- Kids Educational Craft Activities
- Touch-a-Truck and Fire Engine Display
- Patriotic Decoration and Bike Parade
Additional activities for kids will include a bouncy house, face painting and ice cream from the Police Chief. Click here to view a flyer of kids activities.

Sunday, Sept. 12
On Sunday, an Interfaith Blood Drive will be held at the Canton Police Station, 1492 Washington St., from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The blood drive will take place on the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile. All donors will receive a 9/11 Remembrance t-shirt. Appointments remain available and can be booked here.
