Amesbury Fire Department Responds to Near-Drowning

AMESBURY — Amesbury Fire Chief Kenneth E. Berkenbush reports that the Amesbury Fire Department responded to a near-drowning this afternoon. 

AMESBURY — Amesbury Fire Chief Kenneth E. Berkenbush reports that the Amesbury Fire Department responded to a near-drowning this afternoon. 

At 3:27 p.m., Amesbury Fire was dispatched to 5 Christopher Way for a report of a teen who was unconscious after being pulled from a swimming pool. Upon firefighters’ arrival, the individual, a 15-year-old male, was conscious and alert. Another individual on-scene had administered CPR while first responders were en route, and the male regained consciousness after approximately 30 seconds of CPR. 

The individual had been swimming in a pool with friends when he was observed laying face down in the water. Those on scene removed him from the water and rendered aid.

The teenager was transported by Amesbury Fire ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
