LYNNFIELD — A large number of customers have begun using the Lynnfield Center Water District’s new payment and consumption insights portal WaterSmart, and the District would like to encourage those who have not to sign up.
To date nearly 20% of customer accounts have registered into the portal.
“The rate of registration is well ahead of our expecations considering how new the system is,” Superintendent Scenna said. “We believe that is a direct reflection of the effectiveness and ease of the software and the information customers can obtain within it.”
Through a partnership with Ti Sales, Paymentus and WaterSmart, the LCWD now offers customers access to the WaterSmart platform, which provides a broad array of tools previously unavailable to them. The platform also streamlines bill payment and collection process, while giving the district and customers unprecedented insight into their water usage data and trends.
The new, free to use platform launched in the district in March.
WaterSmart provides customers with a range of tools and resources that will help better inform them about water usage and streamline their billing experience. The features include:
- Individualized customer portal
- Usage insights
- Leak alerts
- Increased usage notifications
- Bill forecast notifications
- Paperless billing
- Electronic payments
- Online form submission
- Bill Explainer
- Water saving tips and more.
With WaterSmart, LCWD members will be able to set alerts if their water usage exceeds goals they have set, and can also compare their usage to similar households as well as historical data for their own usage on a month-by-month basis. The program also allows users to troubleshoot possible issues — such as unnoticed leaks — and enables two-way communication about service issues, water main breaks and maintenance activities that could affect customers.
“This upgrade modernizes our billing operation and simultaneously makes it easier for customers to find and understand their bills, while giving our staff tools to engage with customers and work more efficiently,” Superintendent Scenna said. “Using WaterSmart will allow members to have deep insight into their water bill by highlighting their personal water consumption and help them make informed decisions about water usage in the future. We encourage all of our customers to take advantage of this resource.”
While July precipitation was among the highest on record, LCWD still produced and distributed over 18 million gallons in metered water usage over that period. This program allows customers to monitor what they consumed over a given month and without needing to wait until the quarterly bill is delivered in September.
District members can sign up for WaterSmart on a desktop or smartphone browser by visiting lynnfieldcwd.watersmart.com.
After registering, bills can be paid online through the portal, with a fee of 45 cents for an e-check, or $3.95 for credit or debit cards. You will also automatically receive any updates from LCWD and can set various alerts as desired.
