BURLINGTON — Director Michael Wick invites residents to participate in the Burlington Public Library’s virtual arts programs in August as a part of the “Craft, Create and Make” series.

Funding for this series was provided by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

The next programs in the series are:

  • Fun Hands-On Sculpture with Brad Matthews, Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Virtual Paint Night with Librarian Shelley Sloboder, Monday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m.

Both programs are open to residents ages 11 and up. Supplies will be provided by the library.

Registration for these events opens on Monday, Aug. 2, but space is limited. Residents can register on the library’s website or by calling the reference desk at 781-270-1691.

Classes are taught by local artists and BPL librarians.

“The interest in our arts series during these past months has been truly astounding and we are so happy to offer programs that put smiles on our resident’s faces,” said Director Wick. “If you have not had a chance to join in the fun yet, it is not too late, and we encourage you to sign up. You may even discover a new hobby or uncover your artistic abilities.”

Throughout the spring and summer, the library has offered classes in origami, henna, painting, ukulele playing, wire art, “Story and Art” programs for children, and more.

Additionally, library patrons are encouraged to subscribe to Creativebug through the library’s website, which offers a collection of thousands of award-winning art and craft video classes taught by recognized artists. Patrons can create an account by using their Burlington Library card number.
