Greater Cape Ann Community Collaborative Announces First Rockport Clinic

CAPE ANN — The Greater Cape Ann Community Collaborative (GCACC) wishes to share updated details for its first clinic in Rockport.

WHEN:

Saturday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to noon

WHERE:

Community House, 58 Broadway, Rockport

WHAT: 

The GCACC’s first Rockport clinic will be held on Saturday at the Community House (home to the Council on Aging). Walk-ins are welcome. However, appointments are encouraged and can be made by clicking here. The clinic is open to all age 12 and older, whether people need a first or a second dose of the vaccine. Both the Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines will be available at the clinic.

Those seeking a dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccination should make an appointment between 10-11:30 a.m. and those seeking a dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine should book an appointment between 11:45 a.m. and noon on Saturday. 

“We encourage residents to take advantage of this hyper local vaccination option, to protect themselves and those around them from COVID-19,” Selectmen Chairwoman Ruth George said. “Especially as the busy summer season approaches, getting as many members of our community vaccinated as possible will be key as businesses look to reopen and life returns to a more normal pattern.”

Approximately 79% of Rockport residents have gotten at least their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine according to state data issued Thursday.

Those between the ages of 12 and 17 need to bring a consent form filled out by a parent or guardian to the clinic, if they are not being accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, the GCACC encourages parents and guardians to come with anyone under the age of 18 receiving a vaccine as children and teens may feel anxious. 

Subsequent clinics will continue to be held in Rockport on Saturdays at the Community House from 10 a.m. to noon through Saturday, July 31.

The GCACC is also authorized by the MDPH to administer vaccines in other public spaces, and in targeted spaces such as businesses, schools, and houses of worship. Local organizations looking to partner with the GCACC can contact Hamilton Public Health Nurse Rachel Lee at 978-290-9618. The GCACC will publicize dates and times of open clinics when they are finalized.

The GCACC is a collaborative of ten communities: Boxford, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Middleton, Rockport, Topsfield and Wenham.
