Boxborough Police Department to Undergo State Re-Accreditation Assessment

BOXBOROUGH — Chief Warren Ryder announces that the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC) will conduct an examination of the Boxborough Police Department’s policies and procedures, operations, and facilities next month.

The MPAC Assessment Team is scheduled to begin the on-site review on Tuesday, June 15. The Department was most recently accredited in 2018, for a three-year term that expires this year.

Verification by the Assessment Team that the Department continues to meet the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process for state accreditation — a self-initiated evaluation process by which police departments strive to meet and maintain standards that have been established for the profession, by the profession.

Achieving accreditation is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

“The Department seeks to meet the highest standards in law enforcement, and to protect and serve our community in a professional manner,” Chief Ryder said. “To do that the Department must evolve to meet ever-changing standards. Accreditation ensures we continue to grow.”

To be reaccredited, the Department must meet all 257 mandatory standards and at least55 percent of 125 optional standards.
