BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John Bryfonski is pleased to announce that the Bedford Police Department will be raising money to support those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) during the month of April.
April is Autism Awareness Month, and a commemorative version of the Department’s patch will be available to those who makea donation of $10 to benefit Autism Speaks.
According to the Autism Society, autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the U.S. with 1 in 54 children diagnosed, totaling more than 5 million young people and adults.
Those who would like to donate and received a Bedford Police autism awareness patch can purchase it through the Department’s Facebook page here. Patches are only available to residents in the United States and there is no cost for shipping.
All proceeds will be donated to Autism Speaks.
“These patches provide a great opportunity for the community to show their support for those living with ASD and their families,” Chief Bryfonski said. “Thank you to those who have already purchased a patch so far and helped spread awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder.”
