SUDBURY — Superintendent Brad Cozier announces that the Sudbury Public Schools will sponsor pooled COVID-19 testing, in conjunction with the Sudbury Board of Health, later this month.
On Wednesday, April 21, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., the district and Board of Health will conduct pooled testing for all students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Families will receive a pre-registration form, which they should print, fill out and bring with them on the day of testing. The form can also be downloaded by clicking here or visiting the SPS website. Those that do not have a printed form will be able to complete one on-site. Testing will be done via drive-through.
All testing will be conducted at Curtis Middle School, and trained observers will oversee students in grades 2-8 as they self-administer a nasal swab. Parents will be invited to administer the test to students in pre-kindergarten through first grade. This video shows how the test is administered.
“This pooled testing initiative is part of our effort to ensure the continued safe opening of schools and develop an understanding of the prevalence of COVID-19 among our students,” Superintendent Crozier said.
On testing day, families should plan to enter the middle school parking lot via the eastern entrance, stop near the basketball court to confirm or complete paperwork and proceed to the rear of the building for testing. There will be signage and staff in place to help direct traffic.
