Town of Easton Successfully Holds First COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for Residents Age 75 and Older

EASTON — Emergency Management Director Kevin Partridge, Director of Health and Community Services Kristin Kennedy and Town Administrator Connor Read are pleased to report that the Town of Easton officially began administering the COVID-19 vaccine to individuals age 75 and older who live in town last week.

On Friday, Feb. 5, the Town of Easton vaccinated 250 people as part of a clinic held at Frothingham Hall. At the clinic, residents received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. They will receive their second dose within the next 28 days.

Members of the Easton Fire Department, Department of Health and Community Services, and Community Emergency Response Team assisted at the clinic with registration, administering vaccine doses and post-vaccine observation.

“We would like to thank the Department of Health and Community Services and Fire Service Medical Director Dr. Hank Crowley for their assistance in ensuring that our first clinic held for residents went off without a hitch,” Chief Partridge said. “We would also like to thank the Department of Public Works for their assistance setting up the clinic, and Town Administrator Reed and Assistant Town Administrator Michael Blanchard for their assistance throughout the clinic. We had a great turn out and are pleased to see so many residents interested in receiving their vaccine. We look forward to hosting more clinics in the future once we are able to secure additional doses of the vaccine.”

The Town of Easton is seeking additional vaccine allotments from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and will notify the community promptly if more vaccines are provided by the state for future clinics. Registering at a Current State Vaccine Site Using the State Website or Phone Number

The state is continuing to vaccinate those eligible as part of Phase One. Additionally, on Monday, Jan. 25, the state announced that it has restructured Phase Two of the vaccination distribution plan and will vaccinate groups in the following order of priority:

• Individuals 75-years-old and older.
• Individuals 65-years-old and older and individuals with two or more comorbidities, meaning they have a condition that puts them at risk for severe illness should they contract COVID-19. To review these conditions, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website here.
• Early education and K-12 workers, transit, utility, food and agriculture, sanitation, public works, public health and other workers

• Individuals with one comorbidity

To make an appointment at a Massachusetts vaccination site:

• Visit mass.gov/COVID-vaccine to find your phase and priority group
• If you’re eligible, visit mass.gov/COVIDVaccineMap to find a vaccine clinic near you
• Make an appointment online and fill out the attestation form

There is no cost to obtain the vaccine, but patients will be required to present their insurance and identification cards, as well as the attestation form found here. Individuals must present proof of their eligibility to receive the vaccine.

Additionally, a 211 line is available for residents 75 years  old and older without internet access, and will take calls Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Translators are also available to help through the 211 line. Callers will be able to speak with a live representative who will help them make an appointment. 

Signing Up for the Town of Easton’s Vaccine Information List

For those who are unable to successfully book an appointment using the State website or 211, the Town of Easton offers a Vaccine Information List. Residents who are in the first two priority groups of Phase 2 (those 75 and over, those 65 and over, and those with 2+ comorbidities) can sign up for the Town’s Vaccine Information List by filling out the pre-registration forms at www.easton.ma.us/covid19.

Residents who cannot utilize the pre-registration form can instead reach out to the Town of Easton’s COVID-19 hotline at 508-230-0783 or covid19@easton.ma.us to be placed on a COVID-19 Vaccine Information List. Once placed on this list, the Town will share vaccination opportunities and information as it becomes available. Residents are asked to refrain from leaving multiple messages or emails – staff will confirm receipt as soon as possible.

Any residents who has requested to be added to the list, but has since scheduled an appointment elsewhere is asked to email covid19@easton.ma.us to be removed from the list.
