King Philip Regional School District to Transition to Fully Remote Learning This Week Following Confirmed Positive Cases of COVID-19

WRENTHAM — Superintendent Paul Zinni reports that the King Philip Regional School District is transitioning to a fully remote learning model for the remainder of the week as it investigates multiple positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the district.

The decision was made after close consideration with the Boards of Health from Wrentham, Plainville and Norfolk.

All buildings in the district will be closed Tuesday-Friday this week, except to custodial staff members who will be performing a thorough deep cleaning of the buildings.

Any staff member or student who is believed to be a close contact with the positive individuals has already been notified.

“The decision to close our buildings and go fully remote was made out of an abundance of caution, and is supported by the Boards of Health in each of our three communities,” Superintendent Zinni said. “We will continue to keep our families and staff informed as we investigate these positive cases and as the Boards of Health conduct the necessary contact tracing.”

The district will reassess the situation in the coming days and will make a decision then about whether or not schools will transition back to a hybrid learning model next week.

Under state and federal privacy laws, no further information will be made available about the nature of the confirmed positive cases.

The district also stresses the importance of following state and CDC guidelines pertaining to social distancing, mask wearing and proper hygiene, as well as limiting gatherings between people not of the same household. Parents and guardians are reminded to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 and to keep people home from school and away from others if they are symptomatic or have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for the virus.
