Bridgewater Council on Aging to Host Virtual ‘Dementia Friends’ Training Sessions

  • Thursday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.

WHAT:

Bridgewater Council on Aging Outreach Coordinator Kathy Hayes will be leading two separate training sessions on becoming a “Dementia Friend.”

The sessions are free and open to all. Those interested in participating are asked to RSVP to seniorcenter@bridgewaterma.org.

During the free information session, participants will learn five key messages about living with dementia and the simple things that they can do to make a difference in their community. Attendees will learn more about what dementia is, what it’s like to live with dementia and tips for communicating with people who have dementia. Following the information session, participants will become a Dementia Friend. 

Dementia Friends is a global movement developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom and is now underway in Massachusetts and across the United States.
