WHAT:

The Chiefs’ vaccinations are part of a larger effort coordinated by Norwood to help to vaccinate first responders in the region, beginning Monday, Jan. 11.

“We are pleased to be able to kick off the first responder vaccination clinic Monday morning,” Chief Brooks said. “Vaccinating the region’s first responders, who have been on the frontlines throughout the pandemic, is an important step in protecting our personnel and ensuring they are able to continue serving their communities.”

Added Chief Morrice, “As we continue to respond to medical calls and interact with people who could be infected with COVID-19, we are grateful that this vaccination will provide additional protection for the department’s firefighters, EMTs and paramedics.”

As part of the Commonwealth’s phased COVID-19 vaccination plan, the Town of Norwood has been selected to host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for local first responders, beginning Monday. First responder vaccinations in Norwood are part of a regional effort between the member communities of the Norfolk County-8 (NC-8) coalition. The NC-8 regional vaccination effort will serve first responders from Canton, Dedham, Dover, Milton, Needham, Norwood, Walpole, Westwood, Wellesley and Medfield at various clinic locations.

Additional information on the regional effort can be found here.

“As one of the first communities in the Commonwealth to see COVID-19 cases early last March, the Town of Norwood has taken this pandemic seriously and we have been proactive with our response,” General Manager Mazzucco said. “The vaccine is another significant step in our fight against COVID-19 and we proud to be able to provide this vaccine clinic for first responders in our area.”

All media members should adhere to social distancing guidelines and mask wearing will be required at all times during the event.
