STOW —  Town Administrator Denise Dembkoski is pleased to announce that the Town of Stow has recently implemented Smart911/RAVE as its new community notification system which sends important alerts and time-sensitive messages to residents.

Alerts may include notifications about COVID-19, missing persons, criminal activity, extreme weather or other emergency or non-emergency information as deemed necessary by town officials.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this new and modern method of communication to our community members,” said Town Administrator Dembkoski. “Our last notification system only made phone calls and had become outdated. This new system not only conveys messages quickly through calls, texts and emails, but also automatically posts alerts to the town’s Facebook and Twitter pages.”

A majority of residents do not need to take action in order to receive emergency notifications via their landline. However, residents who have recently moved to Stow, changed their home phone number, have an unlisted home phone number or want to use a cellphone to receive notifications will need to register. Residents who manually registered their landline or another device under the town’s previous notification system will need to re-register.

Registration for this notification service is customizable, allowing residents to choose how they would prefer to receive alerts. Residents can choose several different methods including landlines, cell phones, emails, text messages or a combination of devices.

Additional information and the link to register or re-register for Smart911 through the Town of Stow can be found here
