Raymond School District to Continue Fully Remote Learning for Grade 1-12 Students

RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy announces that all Raymond School District students in first through twelfth grade will be participating in fully-remote learning until mid-January.

Remote learning, which began this week for all students, will remain in place until Tuesday, Jan. 19. Preschool, which is held at Raymond High School, will continue to be open as previously scheduled. The Kindergarten program at Lamprey River Elementary School will resume its regular hybrid schedule beginning on Monday, Dec. 7.

High school students who attend the Seacoast School of Technology will be allowed to attend those classes in-person during this time and transportation to and from SST and Raymond High School will be provided daily. 

Due to the necessary self-quarantining procedures and other staffing challenges posed by the pandemic (such as underlying health conditions and childcare challenges due to other districts going fully remote), the district will not be able to continue to support in-person services and is transitioning temporarily to fully remote learning. As case numbers continue to rise in the community, remote learning will also help to protect the health and safety of all members of the district community.

Families who are immediately in need of a Chromebook for their student to participate in remote learning or are in need of technology support may call the Technology Support Hotline at 603-690-9005. Staff will be available starting at 7 a.m. from Monday through Friday to help families in need.

The Student Services Department will continue to provide services for all students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Accommodation Plans. Your student’s special education teacher or case manager will contact you in the coming days to discuss remote learning services. In-person student services will be available for select students by appointment or advanced arrangement, and the majority of students with IEPs or Accommodation Plans will receive these services remotely at their normally scheduled times.

As previously scheduled, there will be no school for students and a teacher in-service day for staff on Friday, Jan. 15.

To prevent further spread of the virus in the community, the Raymond School District asks that students, families and staff take the following precautions to prevent the spread of the disease:

  • Stay home if you have a fever or are not feeling well. 
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid close contact with others. When outside your home, please adhere to social distancing guidelines and keep a distance of at least 6 feet between yourself and others.
  • Wear a cloth face covering that covers your mouth and nose to protect others when in public areas.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
