PLYMOUTH — Fire Chief G. Edward Bradley urges residents to continue to follow COVID-19 safety protocols as the Town of Plymouth reverts back to Phase 3, Step 1.
Plymouth remains a “Red” High Risk community according to the latest data from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health released on Thursday, Oct. 29.According to the data, Plymouth has had a total of 79 positive cases within the past 14 days.
Due to the town’s “Red” designation for a period of three consecutive weeks, Plymouth reverted back to Phase 3, Step 1 of Gov. Charlie Baker’s four-phase approach for reopening on Monday, Oct. 26.
“It’s unfortunate that the town had to regress to its previous phase, but this regression will potentially help to prevent our number of cases from continuing to increase,” Chief Bradley said. “We urge all of our residents to continue to follow all COVID-19 safety protocols set forth by the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as we work to stop the spread.”
As part of Phase 3, Step 1, Plymouth will once again follow the below protocols:
- Outdoor performance venue capacity will remain at 25% with a max of 50 people
- Indoor theaters and performance venues remain closed
- Arcades and indoor/outdoor recreation businesses with activities such as trampolines, obstacle courses, roller rinks and laser tag must remain closed
- Fitting rooms must remain closed
- Gyms, museums, libraries and driving/flight schools must keep their capacity at 40%
- Outdoor gatherings at event venues and in public settings will be limited to 50 people and cannot increase to 100.
Further information on sector-specific protocols can be found here.
The Select Board has also implemented an educational campaign throughout the town to ensure that everyone is is doing their part to stop the spread. Signs were set up throughout the town that include COVID-19 education and warnings of closed areas/locations.
Additionally, the Select Board decided to close the town’s skate park for at least a two-week period following the lack of protocols being followed by people while they are there. The Plymouth Select Board will revisit this decision during the Nov. 10 Select Board meeting.
The Town of Plymouth continues to urge residents to remain vigilant in their fight against the spread of COVID-19. This includes practicing social distancing, frequently washing hands, and properly wearing a facial covering (a mask that covers both the mouth and nose and includes multiple layers of fabric).
