Raymond High School to Host College Application Event for Seniors

RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy and  School Counseling Department Head Tricia Wentworth are pleased to announce an event to help Raymond High School seniors with the college application process will be held next month.

WHEN:

Thursday, Nov. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE:

The event will be held virtually and students must register in advance in order to receive details about how to participate. Registration will be available outside of the School Counseling Office.

WHAT: 

The “I Am College Bound/I Applied” event will be held on Nov. 19. Instructions on how to join and participate in the virtual event will be sent to students who have signed up. Students can sign up outside of the School Counseling Office.

During the event, Raymond High School seniors will have the opportunity to submit at least one college admission application and receive remote help from admission office representatives from various New Hampshire colleges and universities.

The campaign is open to all Raymond High School seniors, with additional assistance and encouragement available for students who may be the first in their family to attend college, low-income students and others who may be unfamiliar with the college application process. 

Application fees for all New Hampshire universities and colleges will be waived for Raymond High School students on Nov. 19 as part of the campaign.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our seniors and we hope that they will attend to help find the answers to any questions they may have about applying to college,” Superintendent McCoy said. “Thank you to Tricia and the rest of the School Counseling Department team for organizing this event for our students.”

The program is part of a nationwide initiative coordinated by ACT’s Center for Equity in Learning. The New Hampshire program is supported by the New Hampshire Department of Education, the NHHEAF Network Organizations, the New Hampshire Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the New Hampshire School Counselor Association, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and the colleges and universities of the NH College & University Council.  

During this year’s campaign, a total of 54 public high schools across New Hampshire will offer this program. Since 2014, over 7,100 New Hampshire high school seniors have submitted over 17,600 college applications.
