One Iber Holmes Gove Middle School Class to Participate in Remote Learning Until Nov. 5

RAYMOND —  Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Robert Bickford announce that one class at the Iber Holmes Gove Middle School will be participating in remote learning starting tomorrow.

The class will work remotely from Monday, Oct. 26 to Thursday, Nov. 5. All other classes at the middle school will continue to follow their regular hybrid learning schedules.

Those in the one affected classroom have been contacted and given instructions for remote learning.

This change comes after the district received new information from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) Saturday evening.

On Friday, the district was informed that an employee of the district tested positive for COVID-19, and that two other members of our school community are quarantining after they were identified as close contact with a diagnosed individual that occurred outside of school. Due to the swift actions of the individuals and families involved, as well as the district, none of these individuals have been in school since Monday, Oct. 19 and none were showing symptoms at that time.

In accordance with NH DHHS and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocol, the staff members will remain out of school until they are cleared to return by the public health experts.

Based on new information from NH DHHS on Saturday, the district is taking additional steps to protect the health and safety of all members of the school community, and are transitioning one class of students to remote learning and work out of an abundance of caution.

Any family for those in the affected classroom who is immediately in need of a Chromebook for their student to participate in remote learning should call the Technology Support Hotline at 603-690-9005 starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26.

As a reminder, any student or staff member who is sick or showing any symptoms related to COVID-19 should stay home from school and participate in remote learning. 

Deep cleaning of all schools will continue to be conducted each night. High touch surfaces are and will continue to be cleaned frequently and as needed throughout the day while the building is occupied. Sanitizing wipes remain available in each classroom to wipe down desks when students change classrooms.

In addition, to prevent further spread of the disease in the community, the Raymond School District asks that students, families and staff take the following precautions to prevent the spread of the disease:

• Stay home if you have a fever or are not feeling well. Students should stay home from school should any new or unexplained illness, no matter how mild, develop. This precaution is meant to keep all staff and students safe.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
• Avoid close contact with others. When outside your home, please adhere to social distancing guidelines and keep a distance of at least 6 feet between yourself and others.
• Wear a cloth face covering that covers your mouth and nose to protect others when in public areas.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
