VIDEO: Town of Stow Reminds Residents They Can Vote Early and by Mail for the Upcoming Election

STOW — With Election Day now just over a week away, the Stow Town Clerk’s Office wishes to remind residents of some important dates and details they need to know before submitting their ballot or visiting the polls. 

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 3 presidential election is Saturday, Oct. 24. Click here to register to vote online.

Early Voting for All Stow Voters

Early voting will be available for all registered voters. All early voting will be held at the Town Building at 380 Great Road. Voters should enter through the lower rear entrance to the building. Voters will not need to fill out an application or make an appointment ahead of time. Voters should be mindful that social distancing and mask-wearing will be enforced at the polls.

The early voting period for the presidential election continues through the close of business on Friday, Oct. 30, and early voting will be available on each of the days of the early voting period.

Early voting hours:

• Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Weekends from noon to 4 p.m.

Those who vote early in person should be aware of the following requirements and suggestions to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

• Face coverings are required
• Bring a pen, such as a blue or black ink sharpie or Paper Mate Flair, if you do not want to borrow one.
• Bring a clipboard or book to use when marking your ballot if you do not want to use a voting booth.
• Bring an ID, as voters will be required to show an ID in some cases.
• Don’t touch your face while at the polling location.
• Maintain a social distance of at least six feet from anyone who is not from your household.

Vote By Mail or Drop Off Your Ballot

Voters may submit a mail-in ballot for this election in order to reduce crowd sizes and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Those who have not already applied to vote by mail should plan to vote early at the Town Building or in-person on election day. 

Voters who have already applied for mail-in ballots are strongly urged to deliver their ballots themselves to the drop box outside the Town Building. Applications and ballots that have been mailed can be tracked here.

Voters should remember to sign and print their names, as well as date the yellow return envelope contained in their mail-in ballot package.

Ballots for the Nov. 3 election must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by the Town Clerk no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 6 in order to be counted. Ballots dropped off using the drop box MUST be delivered by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3. 

Voters whose ballots have already been received and accepted by the Town Clerk on Election Day will not be able to vote in-person on Election Day.

If their vote-by-mail ballot has not been received by the Town Clerk’s Office prior to Election Day, voters can vote in person during the early voting period, or on Election day and their mail-in ballot will be rejected and not counted.
