Pentucket Announces Emily Puteri as Principal of Remote Learning Students

Pentucket Superintendent Justin Bartholomew announces that Emily Puteri will serve as Principal for remote learning students in the district.

WEST NEWBURY — Superintendent Justin Bartholomew announces that Emily Puteri has been selected to serve as the Principal of all remote learning students in the district.

Puteri’s new role will take effect formally on Oct. 26 but she will transition into the role over the next week or so. She will continue in that role for as long as the demand for remote learning exists in the district.

Puteri will oversee all students attending virtual school in the district, including students who selected the FL VS (Florida Virtual School) option presented to students and families at the start of the school year. She will also provide support to all educators facilitating remote learning and will serve as a single point of contact for the families of students in fully remote learning programs.

There are currently 274 students enrolled in Pentucket’s full remote option.

“Our remote students and educators have undertaken a learning experience that is still so new to us, and I’m excited to step into this role and to be in a position to help and support them,” Puteri said. “My hope is that I will be able to strengthen our remote learning programming and supports, and make remote learning a better experience for all involved.”

Puteri has been selected for the role of Remote Learning Principal for the district due to her experience working with students of all age levels as well as her knowledge of technology in education, which will allow her to better support students, families and educators as they continue to navigate remote learning. Puteri is well versed in technology platforms and tools that have been adopted to support remote learning, including Google Classroom.

Puteri has served as the Principal of the Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School for the past four years and previously served as Assistant Principal at Pentucket Regional Middle School for three years. She also worked as a school psychologist for at the middle school and at the Dr. John C. Page Elementary School and has previous experience working with high school students as well.

Bagnall Elementary School Assistant Principal Jim Day will be elevated to Interim Principal of the Bagnall starting Monday.  Assistant Superintendent Brent Conway will spent part of his time at the Bagnall assisting Interim Principal Day, but he will also remain in his role as Assistant Superintendent.

“We have the utmost confidence Mrs. Puteri will be able to successfully and confidently oversee our remote learning educators and students as they continue this school year,” Superintendent Bartholomew said. “This is still new territory for us all, and it is our hope that placing someone with this level of knowledge and experience in a position dedicated to our remote learners will be a tremendous asset to our families.”

Students, families and staff with questions can contact Puteri at eputeri@prsd.org.
