*VIDEO* Town of Cohasset Releases PSA Encouraging Residents to Get Flu Vaccination

COHASSET – Town Manager Christopher Senior reports that the Town of Cohasset has released a video PSA encouraging residents to receive their flu vaccination this year.

“This year it is especially important to get your flu shot. Both flu and COVID are respiratory illnesses so they affect your breathing,” said Mary Goodwin, R.N., Cohasset’s Public Health Nurse. “We want to do everything we can to prevent people from getting the flu, or COVID. When you get your flu shot, we can keep people healthy and help our hospitals deal with the people who are really ill. It will cut down on the amount of people who show up in the ER who need to get treated.”

The video features prominent members of the Town of Cohasset, including Town Manager Senior, Police Chief William Quigley and Human Resources Director Miriam Johnson, explaining why they chose to get their flu shot this year.

“Typically flu season doesn’t start until mid December to late December, so we are in a good range right now for people to get their flu shot,” Nurse Goodwin said. “It takes about 10-14 days for the vaccine to become effective in your system so you want to get it before we start seeing the flu so your immune system is fully responded to the flu shot.”

The video lists several flu vaccination clinics upcoming in town. They include:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 21, drive-thru clinic, Osgood School, 10 a.m. to noon. (This clinic is fully booked)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 28, drive-thru clinic, Osgood School, 10 a.m. to noon. (This clinic is fully booked)
  • Saturday, Nov. 14, inside clinic, Deer Hill School, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. By appointment only.
