Town of East Bridgewater Reminds Residents to Renew Their Dog Licenses

EAST BRIDGEWATER — The Town of East Bridgewater and Animal Control Officer Alexizz Xavier would like to remind residents that the deadline for licensing their dog has passed, and that late fees may now be incurred for people licensing their dogs.

The dog licensing period in East Bridgewater runs from July 1 to June 30 each year, and late fees typically begin on any license obtained after Sept. 1. However, this year due to COVID-19 restrictions the deadline was extended to Oct. 1.

“Even though the deadline has passed, we still encourage all residents to license their dogs with the Town,” ACO Xavier said. “Licensing a dog helps it be reunited with its owner if it should go missing, and provides proof that a dog is fully up-to-date on their vaccinations.”

The fee for licensing a dog is $15, or $10 if neutered/spayed. A current rabies certificate is required, stating the date of expiration. Proof of neutering or spaying must be provided.

All dogs 6 months or older must be licensed. A late fee shall be assessed to each dog not licensed on or before Sept. 1 (or Oct. 1 this year). The schedule of late fees is as follows: First offense $25, second offense $50, third and any subsequent offenses $100.

Residents may license their dog(s) at the Town Clerk’s office during regular hours. Payments can be made in the form of cash or check. 

Residents may also mail in a dog licensing form along with a current rabies certificate and required payment in the form of a check made payable to the Town of East Bridgewater, and should include a self-addressed stamped envelope to have the dog license/tag mailed back.
