NEW LONDON, N.H. — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg is pleased to announce that free breakfasts and lunches will be available for all students 18 and under through Dec. 31, 2020.
Children do not have to be enrolled in school district to receive the meals.
This is made possible due to the extension of the United State Department of Agriculture’s Summer Meals Program funding, which served approximately 6,200 meals to Kearsarge students. The district was notified on Sept. 16 by the New Hampshire Department of Education that the funding was extending and it will be retroactively applied to the start of the school year.
Students who have purchased meals since the beginning of the first day of school, Aug. 31, will receive a credit to the student’s lunch account for those meals.
Those participating in remote learning at home can order their meals for the week using the Remote Learning Google Form. Orders must be submitted by 9 a.m. on the day of pick up. Families can submit one form to request meals for all the students in their household.
Meals can be picked on at the Kearsarge Regional Middle School, 32 Gile Pond Road, North Sutton, on Mondays and Wednesday only from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
High school students participating in at-school remote learning will be able to order their meals through a Google Form different from the full remote students. They can pick up meals at the food service door between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.. In school students will us the google form and lunches will be delivered to their classrooms by high school staff. Breakfast can be picked up at the cafeteria between 7-9 a.m. In addition, breakfast can be picked up by 7:30 a.m. in the main hallway.
Middle school students at school can order their lunch meals each day through a Google Form and the meals will be delivered to the classrooms by our food service staff. Breakfast for the middle school is served in the main hallway until 7:30 a.m.
Elementary school students participating in at-school remote learning will order their meals from their classrooms and the meals will be delivered by kitchen staff.
Each meal will be individually packaged for each student.
“Thank you to all who have helped to coordinate and run this program over the last few months,” Superintendent Feneberg said. “We are proud to be able to offer meals to all of our students during these uncertain times to help ease the burden on families.”
Families who are eligible for free or reduced lunches are asked to still fill out their paperwork and submit it to Caroline Kershaw at 114 Cougar Court, New London, NH 03257 prior to Dec. 30, 2020 to ensure that there is no interruption in benefits.
