AVON — Town Administrator Gregory Enos is pleased to announce that Town employees were treated to an employee recognition event Thursday, Sept. 24 as a thank-you for the work they have put in during the past several months.
An ice cream truck from Weymouth-based Ellie’s Treats visited the Avon Public Library, Avon Town Hall and the Avon Police Station as part of the event.
“Municipal employees were already working in fast-paced, high stress jobs before the COVID-19 pandemic, but the past several months have been especially difficult for everyone,” Town Administrator Enos said. “Our municipal workers have gone above and beyond to make sure town services remained intact and residents continued to receive the quality services they expect.”
In particular, Council on Aging members delivered meals for months during the height of the pandemic to senior residents with assistance from the Avon Public School Food Services staff, Public Works crews have completed several key projects over the summer, and Police and Fire departments have kept residents safe despite many new challenging protocols that were put in place due to COVID-19.
Avon Town Hall has been open on a by-appointment basis since June. The Town is working with the Avon Board of Health and its emergency management team on re-opening Town Hall and other town buildings to the public with new protocols and procedures.
“Navigating COVID-19 has not been easy, and we wanted to say thank you and let our employees know that their hard work has not gone unnoticed,” Town Administrator Enos said.
