DRACUT — Acting Police Chief Stephen D. Chaput and Superintendent Steven Stone report that Dracut Police and Dracut Public Schools are investigating after a mix of racist and anti-police graffiti was found at Brookside Elementary School today.
Shortly before 4 p.m. today, Dracut Police were called to Brookside Elementary for reports of racist and anti-police graffiti. Upon arrival, police found graffiti written in chalk on the side of a brick wall of the school, which included racist and anti-police statements.
Dracut Police are actively investigating the situation.
“We are in the very early stages of this investigation, but want to reassure the community we are taking this incident very seriously and there is no room in Dracut for hate and racism,” Chief Chaput said.
“This hate speech does not reflect the values of Dracut Public Schools,” Superintendent Stone said.”The Dracut Public Schools celebrates its focus on being a community of caring, and we wish to reaffirm to students, families, staff and the greater Dracut community that respect, trust, inclusion and kindness are values which we will continue to promote and foster in our schools.”
