NEWPORT — The Newport Police Department announces the Vermont Police Canine Association “Lawn Enforcement” Raffle will be held in Newport this weekend.
The fundraiser will help to purchase new protective vests for police K9s throughout the state.

Saturday, Sept. 19. The event will start at 11 a.m.
WHERE:
Newport Farm & Garden, 1376 East Main St.
WHAT:
The Lawn Enforcement Raffle will be held Saturday, Sept. 19 at Newport Farm & Garden’s Open House to celebrate the business’ 20th anniversary.
The event is being put on by the Vermont Police Canine Association, and is sponsored by Newport Farm & Garden and Auto Outfitters.
K9 demonstrations will be held, including one by Newport Police Officer Josh Lillis and K9 Ozzy, and attendees will also have the opportunity to enter into a raffle while there.
Raffle tickets are $20 each and the prizes are as follows:
- The first place winner will have the choice between a Cub Cadet Ultima 46 Zero-Turn riding mower or a $1,000 cash prize.
- The second place winner will receive a remote car starter from Auto Outfitters.
- The third place winner will receive a Shindaiwa T235 Professional String Trimmer.
Raffle tickets can be purchased either at the event or online ahead of time at www.vtk9.com/shop.
All proceeds from the raffle will be used to purchase protective vests for St. Albans Police K9 Ringo, Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife K9 Fletch, Swanton Police K9 Scout, Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles K9 Annie, Morristown Police K9 Viper, and Vermont State Police K9s Achilles and Rocky.
All who are in attendance are asked to wear a face mask or face covering, and to maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet from those outside of their household.
