Raymond Fourth and Fifth Graders to Resume Regular Hybrid Learning Schedules

RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Bob Bickford announce that all Raymond fourth and fifth grade students will resume their normal schedules for the hybrid learning model starting tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 9.

RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Bob Bickford announce that all Raymond fourth and fifth grade students will resume their normal schedules for the hybrid learning model starting tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 9.

These students participated in remote learning on Tuesday after the district was notified that six staff members came into close contact with a person who may have contracted COVID-19. The exposure occurred at an event outside of the school last weekend.

This scheduling change was made out of an abundance of caution in order to protect the health and safety of students, staff and their families, and to ensure there was an adequate number of teachers available to instruct students.

The district was notified this afternoon that the individual has received a negative test result for COVID-19, meaning none of the staff members have been exposed to the virus.

“Thank you to all of the Raymond School District families for your understanding and patience,” Superintendent McCoy said. “We recognize the challenges families face when we have to make these decisions at a moment’s notice and do not make these changes lightly. Our top priority will always be the health and safety of our students, staff and their families, and all decisions will be made with this in mind.”

As a reminder, any student or staff member who is sick or showing any symptoms related to COVID-19 should stay home from school and participate in remote learning. Students and staff will need to stay out of school for least 14 days after the onset of symptoms, with signs that symptoms have improved, and at least 24 hours have passed since the resolution of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications. Anyone who is tested and receives a negative result for COVID-19 will be able to return to school sooner than the 14 days.

If a student arrives at school with any symptoms of illness, or develops any symptoms during the school day, they will be sent home. This precaution is meant to keep all staff and students safe. Families are asked to contact your student’s school nurse if you have specific questions about the return to school requirements on a case-by-case basis and to let them know of any pre-existing or chronic health conditions your child may have:

  •  Lamprey River Elementary School Nurse Emily Donati: 603-895-3117 ext. 335
  • Iber Holmes Gove Middle School Nurse Monique Gauthier: 603-895-3394 ext. 4186
  • Raymond High School Nurse Mark Hastings: 603-895-6616 ext. 2304

Deep cleaning of all schools will continue to be conducted each night. High touch surfaces are and will continue to be cleaned frequently and as needed throughout the day while the building is occupied. Sanitizing wipes remain available in each classroom to wipe down desks when students change classrooms.
