BROOKLINE– The Brookline Parks and Open Space Division is reminding residents to participate in the Town of Brookline’s upcoming Urban Forest Climate Resiliency Master Plan Open Forum and Survey.
The Brookline Parks and Open Space Division will be discussing the results of the town’s urban forest inventory and the next steps in the plan at the second virtual open forum on Monday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m via Zoom. Residents are asked to register for the event in advance by clicking here, or scanning the QR code below:

In an effort to reach as many residents as possible, the Brookline Parks and Open Space Division has also created an online survey, for residents to share their thoughts and opinions regarding the Urban Forest Climate Resiliency Master Plan. Residents can participate in the survey until it closes on Oct. 31. The survey can be accessed by clicking here or scanning the QR code below:

The Urban Forest Climate Resiliency Master Plan is intended to position the Town to proactively and equitably prepare for and protect against the impacts of climate change on Brookline’s public and private trees, and prepare for and mitigate impacts to the community and environment overall.
An “Urban Forest” consists of all the trees that populate a town or city – including park trees, street trees and the trees in residents’ front yards. These trees sequester carbon, reduce flooding, decrease ambient air temperature, improve water quality and much more.
“We strongly encourage all residents to attend this forum and to take the survey,” Director of Parks and Open Spaces in Brookline Erin Gallentine said. “The input of our community members is important to us and we would love to hear their thoughts on how our urban forest can improve and how we can ensure its resiliency for future generations.”
