RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Athletic Director Davinney Brazeau would like to announce guidelines and safety measures that will be followed for all fall sports for the start of the 2020-21 season.
All sports will be following the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules which were adopted by the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA) for the 2020-21 season
The first day of practice for all sports will be Tuesday, Sept. 8. The first day to play will be Friday, Sept. 18 for the cross country, soccer and volleyball teams, and Friday, Sept. 25 for the football team.
The following safety measures will be put in place to help protect the health and safety of students and staff:
- Face shields for football players and disinfectant/sanitizing supplies needed for all practices, games and equipment must be purchased prior to the start of the season.
- A participation waiver must be signed by both the student athlete and a parent/guardian before students will be allowed to participate. The waiver will be emailed to all parents and guardians next week.
- Pre-screening, which will consist of temperature taking and screening for symptoms, will need to be completed by all staff and players prior to the start of practice in order to participate. This will be done daily before all practices and games.
- On remote learning days, students must arrive dressed and ready to participate for practice.
- Face masks will be worn when the student is not on the field or court of play.
- Based on the guidance from the district’s bus company, sporting events can only be scheduled for the weekends until further notice.
- Spectators at HOME events will be limited to the parent/guardian of participating Raymond athletes only with the following guidelines: wearing a mask and practicing social distancing of six feet.
- Parents or guardians may drive their student to and from away sporting events with written permission. Transportation forms will be available at the bus departure site for parents or guardians to fill out. Students who are driven by their family will still be required to participate in the team screening prior to leaving for the away game or event.
- In the event school buildings are closed and students transition to fully remote learning, all athletics will be suspended.
Administrators and coaches will continue to monitor the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and make any necessary changes or updates to these measures based on local, state and federal guidance.
