GLOUCESTER — Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken and Public Health Director Karin Carroll have provided visitors with information regarding the Massachusetts Travel Order that will go into effect on Saturday, Aug. 1, in an effort to keep residents and visitors to Gloucester healthy.
The City of Gloucester has partnered with Discover Gloucester, Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and the Harbormaster’s Office to provide information about the travel order to area lodging partners such as hotels and vacation rental websites, transient boaters and as many visitors as possible.
“With many looking to enjoy the remaining weeks of summer, we want to educate visitors on new travel guidelines so they can plan ahead for their vacations,” said Mayor Romeo Theken. “We all have a responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe from this virus.”
Visitors and Massachusetts residents coming from any other state or jurisdiction
are required to fill out the Massachusetts Travel Form and to quarantine for 14 days or produce a negative COVID-19 test result administered not more than 72 hours prior to arriving in Massachusetts.
Those who take a COVID-19 test prior to arriving in Massachusetts should have their negative test results readily available. Travel restrictions are not applicable to visitors from lower risk COVID-19 states. Please click here for more information on the travel order and exemptions.
Visitors and returning residents who were tested for COVID-19 prior to their arrival but have not yet received results must quarantine until they receive a negative test result. Failure to comply could result in a $500 fine per day.
Visitors to Gloucester are also reminded that face masks or face coverings must be worn when:
- In a situation or setting where you are unable to maintain a social distance of 6 feet from others
- In a public business or public or private transportation carrier or for-hire vehicle.
Visitors should also practice social distancing whenever possible and to wash or sanitize their hands frequently.
