SUDBURY–Superintendent Brad Crozier and Sudbury Public Schools are pleased to announce a two-part presentation by Dr. Naami Turk discussing the impact of COVID-19 on mental health and the new school year.

“This presentation will help parents, students, and educators better understand and prepare for the new school year and the changes that will come with it due to COVID-19,” Superintendent Crozier said. “We are so excited to have enlisted the help of Dr. Naami Turk, who can offer helpful insight in dealing with difficult changes and our own mental health.”

WHO:

Dr. Naami Turk is a clinical psychologist who has worked with children, adolescents and families for the past 30 years. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders, conducts neuropsychological evaluations and provides school-based consultation. Dr. Turk has spoken to many school districts about the impact of COVID-19 on children, parents and school staff.

WHAT:

The two-part series is designed for parents and school staff to consider the impact of loss, anxiety and uncertainty on parents and educational professionals, as well as on students. Turk will discuss practical ways to engage in self-care and the care of others as the future remains uncertain.

COVID-19 – Mid-Summer Thoughts: Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Headed The first presentation will examine loss, anxiety and uncertainty as students, parents, and faculty can learn about ways to build strength, maintain momentum, and prepare to engage in the start of the school year. 

Where We Are Now….School is Around the Corner!

Part two will revisit topics such as anxiety and exploring opportunities for “realistic joy” through the consideration of routines and rituals connected with the beginning of the school year.
