CANTON — Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Fischer-Mueller is pleased to share that Canton High School has received a new rooftop heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit in preparation for school reopening this fall.
The HVAC unit, which is part of a multi-year Capital Plan, was delivered Wednesday, July 22, and will be installed in the coming days. Once installed the unit will cover heating, ventilation and air conditioning in the auditorium and music wing of CHS.
The Capital Plan allows for the commitment to updating the rooftop HVAC units and enhancing facilities at the Canton Public Schools. Over the last five years, the district has replaced three units at CHS and three at Galvin Middle School.
“Safety is a top priority as we continue our planning for the reopening of school,” Superintendent Fischer-Mueller said. “As we know from safety officials, quality air flow is an important element to keeping school as safe as possible as students and staff return to our buildings.”
In addition to rooftop units, Canton Public Schools is committed to using the highest quality filters in internal units to support air quality in all buildings. The district has doubled its usual changing of filters from two times per year to four times per year.
“Canton Public Schools benefits from the ongoing attention to the maintenance of its air quality equipment,” Superintendent Fischer-Mueller said. “Now we are seeking to make it even better, knowing that the safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.”
