Littleton Public Schools Offers Summer Meals Program for Local Families

LITTLETON — Superintendent Kelly Clenchy and Food Services Director John Overcash announce summer meals are available for all families in the community.

LITTLETON — Superintendent Kelly Clenchy and Food Services Director John Overcash announce summer meals are available for all families in the community.

Meals can be picked up on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11 a.m. at Littleton High School, 56 King St. Families looking to pick up a meal do not need to sign up in advance, and will be given three breakfasts and lunches on Tuesdays and four breakfasts and lunches on Thursdays.

The meals are available for any families with children up to the age of 21, whether they attend Littleton schools or not. The District has also partnered with the Littleton Rotary Club, providing meals for a dozen senior citizens during this time as well.

“All of the folks that have been working with our food services staff are doing so on a voluntary basis because they feel like this is an important project and want to be a part of it,” said Overcash. “We’ve had a lot of positive comments from the community and we’ve appreciated it very much. It helps my staff keep that connection with the kids they would normally see everyday, they care very deeply about them.”

The program will be available through the end of August. This is the first year that the District has been able to offer meals for families during the summer and is an extension of the meals program the District adopted when school buildings were closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding is provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

“We are proud to offer this opportunity for local families in order to give them one less thing to worry about,” Superintendent Clenchy said. “Thank you to John and his staff for their incredible work, and for stepping up to take care of students and their families.”

Those who wish to receive meals, but are unable to get to the pick up site can contact Overcash at jovercash@littletonps.org to make alternate arrangements.
