EXETER — Superintendent David Ryan and Food Services Director Jeanne Pierce announce summer meals will be available for all families in the community starting next month.

The first round of orders can be placed on Wednesday, July 1 and will be available for pick up on Monday, July 6.

Meals can be picked up on Mondays from 11-11:30 a.m. at one of three sites:

  • East Kingston Fire Station, 5 Main St., East Kingston.
  • Deep Meadow Variety Store, 93 Linden St., Exeter.
  • Meeting Place Drive, Exeter.

All children from age two to 18 or students between the age of 18 and 21 and enrolled in school programs for people with disabilities, and who live in the district are eligible to receive meals.

Meals will be provided on a first come, first serve basis and families will be able to pick up five breakfasts and lunches each week. Those who wish to receive meals are asked to sign up in advance to help ensure that staff prepare enough food for those in need.

Since school buildings were closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, district families have been able to request and pick up breakfast and lunch meals. This program is available until Tuesday, June 30 and meals can be picked up on Mondays 11-11:30 a.m. Meals must be ordered online and orders must be placed no later than 5 p.m. on the Wednesday before the pick up date. More information about this program can be found here.

“We’re grateful to be able to offer meals to any families in the district after the school year has ended,” said Pierce. “Community members have provided tremendous support for our program, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’re glad to be able to use those donations to continue to help our students.”

A link to sign up in advance for the summer meals program will be available on the SAU 16 website on Monday, June 22.
