Nonprofit Garners 35,000 Webinar Registrations
WAKEFIELD — Executive Director Margie Daniels is pleased to share that Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) held it’s last webinar of the school year yesterday, and has netted more than 35,000 webinar registrations since March.
The webinar, titled “Dancing With the Prolonged Pandemic Anxiety: How to Have the Tough Talks, Support Your Students and Keep Your Families Grounded” was led by Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Cambridge Health Alliance Psychiatry Department Consultant Nancy Rappaport on Monday, June 15.
The webinar built on the resources and information Rappaport shared with educators in a webinar on May 15, during which she discussed practical tools for supporting children and loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“MPY provides a critical platform to allow the educational community to learn, share and grow together, particularly during this challenging time,” Rappaport said. “How to dance with anxiety during the prolonged pandemic was an offering I gave because MPY reaches a large audience and is devoted to keeping momentum going as we strive to give students what they deserve.”
During her webinar, Rappaport discussed how educators can support children with histories of trauma, how people can anchor themselves in hope, how to answer children’s difficult questions, strategies for children who may withdraw and how people can continue to strengthen their resilience as they prepare themselves, students and families for the future amid the unpredictable and ongoing pandemic.
“Ending our webinar series for the school year with Nancy’s discussion on how educators can prepare to move forward to address anxiety and build resiliency really felt like the perfect way to provide people with the tools they need heading into the summer and in preparation for the fall,” Daniels said. “We are so happy these webinars successfully provided the support educators really needed during this difficult time. Thank you so much to all who worked tirelessly to organize, speak during and attend webinars over the past few months.”
MPY began hosting remote workshops on March 24 after halting its planned in-person conferences due to COVID-19. With school facilities throughout Massachusetts closed due to the virus, MPY swiftly adapted and moved its programming online, for free, to offer educators resources to reach out and support students and families for the remainder of the school year.
Since March, MPY has held 56 webinars.
