Town of Middleborough Announces Reopening of Town Offices

Town Offices Will Reopen on Monday, June 22

MIDDLEBOROUGH — Town Manager Robert Nunes would like to inform Middleborough residents that public buildings and town offices will reopen for business beginning next Monday, June 22.

On Monday, June 22, Middleborough public buildings and town offices will reopen and be operational from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Council on Aging building, 558 Plymouth St., will reopen to the public beginning Monday, but there will be no programming scheduled. Programming will resume in accordance with statewide COA guidelines. Anyone with questions can contact the COA at 508-946-2490. “The initial decision to close all public buildings and town offices was made in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” said Town Manager Nunes. “As industries and businesses begin to reopen under Gov. Baker’s four-phase approach for reopening the state, we have decided public health data has deemed it possible for us to safely open our town offices and buildings while adhering to state and local restrictions. The Town of Middleborough will continue to monitor the numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the town and will make adjustments to the reopening plans as we deem necessary.”

Public buildings and town offices will have COVID-19 protocols in place and adhere to a set of standards designed to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission to town workers and patrons.

Everyone inside public buildings or town offices, including employees, patrons and vendors, must remain six feet apart at all times. While inside town offices or public buildings, residents must wear face masks to cover their nose and mouth. Those under the age of two or with certain health conditions identified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health are exempt from the requirement.

Town offices will rigorously follow basic hygiene recommendations and maintain a cleaning and disinfecting protocol. Town offices will provide hand washing supplies and capabilities and sanitize high touch areas, such as workstations, equipment, screens, doorknobs, and restrooms throughout the worksite. 

Residents who wish to continue to conduct their business via telephone, regular mail or online instead of in-person may continue to do so at this time.

Town Library 

The library will be closed to the public until further notice, but curbside pickup will still be available for residents.

At this time, the public library will continue to follow guidelines issued by the Commonwealth as they become available.

Curbside pickup is available Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Patrons can put materials available at the Middleborough Public Library on hold and then will be called to make an appointment.
