BOXBOROUGH — Town Administrator Ryan Ferrara would like to invite community members to attend a free regional face mask distribution this Saturday.
WHEN:
Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to noon
WHERE:
Boxborough Regency Hotel, 242 Adams Place, directly off Route 495
WHAT:
The Town of Boxborough will be distributing free masks to anyone in the community who wishes to pick up masks for their personal use.
Residents from surrounding communities are invited to attend the regional distribution. No appointment necessary.
To abide by social distancing and other health guidelines, volunteers will be conducting a drive-thru, touchless distribution process. Upon arrival, residents should follow the instructions provided by volunteers.
Attendees are asked to limit their request to five masks per person. Masks will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
Town officials would like to remind community members that face masks or cloth face coverings must now be worn in public to prevent the spread of COVID-19, per an order by Gov. Baker on May 6. The order requires anyone in public unable to remain socially distant, a minimum of 6 feet away from others, to wear a face covering. This order applies to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) still advises those wearing a face covering to practice social distancing in public when possible, as COVID-19 is believed to be transmitted through respiratory droplets produced when someone with the virus talks, sneezes our coughs. Wearing a face covering helps prevent those who may have COVID-19 and are asymptomatic from passing the virus to others, according to the CDC.
The Town of Boxborough would like to thank Sen. Jamie Eldridge’s Office for facilitating this process and the benefactor, who would like to remain anonymous, who generously donated the masks.
“Our objective is to provide a meaningful number of masks to each household, while retaining a sufficient amount of gear to allocate to as many people as possible,” said Town Administrator Ferrara. “We hope that this distribution will help to equip our residents with an ample amount of face masks so they can safely go about their daily activities.”
Last Saturday, the Town of Boxborough also distributed 6,000 masks at a distribution event at the Regency Hotel.
