Town of Groveland Announces Public Health Guidelines for Upcoming Town Election

GROVELAND — Town Clerk Elizabeth Cunniff would like to provide residents with important details about the upcoming Town Election and the new procedures that will be implemented to help protect the health of voters and staff.

The Town Election will be held on Monday, June 15  from noon to 8 p.m. at the Groveland Town Hall, 183 Main St.

Residents will use separate entrances based on the precinct they live in. Those who live in Precinct 1 will use the door at the parking lot entrance and should park in the main town hall parking lot. Those who live in Precinct 2 will use the Veto Room entrance, which is on the Route 113 side of the building and under the flag bunting. As such, voters from Precinct 2 should park closer to the Groveland Public Library or park along the roadway entrance to the town complex.

A list of streets located in Precinct 1 can be found here and a list of the streets in Precinct 2 can be found here. Signs and staff will be outside the Town Hall on voting day for residents to check their precinct.

Only three voters (two marking their ballots and one checking in) will be allowed inside the voting room at a time for both voting areas. Five additional voters will be allowed to wait inside the building outside the voting area and must maintain a distance of at least six feet from other people while waiting in line.

Voters may be asked to wait outside in order to adhere to state guidelines on the total number of people allowed within the building at one time.

All voters are asked to wear a face mask or cloth face covering when voting. Masks will be available for residents who do not have one. Should a voter decline to wear a mask or be unable to do so due to an underlying medical condition, that individual will have to wait until the room has cleared. Regular voting will resume once the room has been sanitized.

Early vote by mail Ballots are still being accepted at the Town Hall drop box. The last day to submit these ballots will be election day and must be received before 8 p.m. when voting closes.

Residents can click here to download and print an application to vote early by mail, which must be either mailed to Town Clerk Elizabeth Cunniff at 183 Main St., Groveland, Massachusetts 01834 or dropped into the Town Hall drop box. All applications must be received by the Town Clerk with enough time to mail out the requested ballot and have it returned by 8 p.m. on Monday, June 15.  Electronic signatures on applications to vote by mail will not be accepted.

This year’s Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, June 22 at 7 p.m. at the Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School, 253 School St. More information about the meeting and the guidelines for attendees will be shared next week.
