Town of Bridgewater Shares State Checklist with Local Restaurant Owners Prior to Phase 2 Re-Openings

BRIDGEWATER — Town Manager Michael Dutton, Community and Economic Development Director Jennifer Burke, and Health Agent Eric Badger would like to provide local restaurant owners with the following information in advance of Governor Charlie Baker’s initiation of Phase 2 to allow restaurants time to prepare to operate in compliance with mandatory health and safety standards.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has compiled a checklist of workplace safety standards for restaurants to review before re-opening. It contains necessary information on proper social distancing measures, hygiene protocols, staffing and operations protocols and proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures, as well as best practice recommendations for restaurant owners to follow.

Gov. Baker will initiate Phase 2 of the statewide re-opening plan by formal Executive Order following a careful review of public health data. Restaurants may provide outdoor table service at the commencement of Phase 2. Restaurants will be authorized at a later date and by a subsequent Phase 2 Order to commence indoor table service if the public health data reflects continued positive progression.

Restaurants may not provide any service beyond carry-out or delivery until specifically authorized to do so as part of Phase 2.

The Town of Bridgewater is currently working with restaurant owners to temporarily expand service areas for those restaurants serving alcohol so that temporary outdoor food service can be accompanied with a beverage.

Businesses with questions about re-opening or in need of assistance to prepare for Phase 2 can contact the Town of Bridgewater at TownManager@BridgewaterMA.org.

“The Town of Bridgewater fully supports our local restaurants, and we offer our assistance in any way to make re-opening as easy as possible,” Town Manager Dutton said. “The Bridgewater community will continue to support local restaurants as we take steps towards a new normal.”
