GEORGETOWN — The following is a statement from Georgetown Fire Chief Fred Mitchell for the Georgetown Middle-High School class of 2020:

“Congratulations to the class of 2020 on your upcoming graduation. While this year’s celebration may be different from what anybody may have expected, all of us at the Georgetown Fire Department want you to know how impressed with are with your accomplishments.

“You have had to adapt and overcome to a new set of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and you did so in stride. We commend your efforts, as well as those of your families and your teachers, as you finished these final few weeks of your time at the Georgetown Middle-High School. We’ve interacted with many of you over the years, and are proud of the well-rounded community members you’ve become.

“We wish you all the best in the next chapter of your lives and are always here to answer any public safety or fire service questions you might have.”
