FAIRFIELD — Members of the Fairfield Police Department were honored to receive a special message of support from a local children’s choir group on Thursday, May 14.
The Fairfield County Children’s Choir put together a virtual choir of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” to share with Fairfield County first responders and healthcare workers on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19. In the video, over 100 children from 16 towns performed the song to express their gratitude and share their support.
“I’m so incredibly moved by this video and am honored that they chose to share it with us,” said Fairfield Police Chief Chris Lyddy. “Over the last few months, community support has gone a long way towards keeping up our morale. Thank you to the Fairfield County Children’s Choir for this amazing gift and to all who have continued to support us during these unprecedented times.”
The video is also dedicated to those who have had a family member affected by COVID-19 or lost a loved one during the pandemic.
“The Fairfield County Children’s Choir remains dedicated to our choristers, their families, and our community during this unique time,” said Executive Director Sarah Duff. “We hope our virtual choir of children singing separately, but together provides comfort and joy to our community.”
