Town of Norwood Receives $10,000 Donation to Norwood Fund from Local Business

NORWOOD — Town of Norwood General Manager Tony Mazzucco wishes to recognize and thank a local business owner who recently donated $10,000 to the Norwood Fund.

NORWOOD — Town of Norwood General Manager Tony Mazzucco wishes to recognize and thank a local business owner who recently donated $10,000 to the Norwood Fund.

Vincent A. Dilorio Jr., president of Norwood based engineering firm Vincent A. Dilorio, Inc., donated to the fund to support residents in need of assistance as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

“I am very glad I could provide some help for the people of Norwood who are struggling during this uncertain time,” Dilorio said. “I have been proud to call this town my home for my entire life and if there is a chance to give back, I am happy to do so.”

The Norwood Fund is a combination of four donation funds operated by the town, including the Council on Aging Senior Citizen Donation Fund, Gift of Warmth Fund and Veteran’s Assistance Fund. The Town of Norwood launched the fourth fund, the Norwood Food Security Fund, recently to provide temporary food assistance in response to the COVID-19 public health crisis, primarily for those who do not quality for other sources of food relief and are in need of quick, short-term assistance. 

The four funds may be utilized to provide support to any resident in need, with a focus on seniors, veterans and those in greatest need. Funds donated to the Norwood Relief Fund are divided equally among the four funds. 

“We are incredibly thankful to Vinnie for this generous donation, which will make a real, immediate impact in the lives of Norwood residents who need help as a result of this pandemic,” General Manager Mazzucco said. “It is heartwarming for us all to watch our community band together to provide support to one another during this time, and we are thankful that we are able to help residents through the Norwood Fund during this time.”

How to Donate

People can donate to the Norwood Fund by:

  • Dropping a check off at the Town Hall drop box, located outside in the parking lot behind Town Hall, 566 Washington St. Checks should be made payable to “Norwood Fund.”
  • Mailing a check to Town Hall, 566 Washington St., Norwood, MA 02062. Checks should be made payable to “Norwood Fund.”
  • Bringing cash to a Norwood Bank or Bank of Canton branch and having a check made out to the Town of Norwood. Then drop off or mail the check to Town Hall, 566 Washington St., Norwood, MA 02062
  • Donating online here. Click on the “Cable, Excise Tax, Property Tax, and Utility Bills” link. Then, on the left side of the page, click on “COVID-19 DONATIONS”

Even after the COVID-19 emergency, there will still be a need for these funds to assist Norwood residents. Funds will remain in these donation accounts and will only be used for the purpose of helping Norwood residents.

Those who feel they need assistance from the Norwood Fund can contact the citizen information center at 781-352-2363. Callers will be referred to available area supports and services, which may or may not include be assistance from the Norwood Fund.
