LITTLETON — Chair of the Board of Selectmen Joseph Knox, Town Administrator Nina Nazarian, Fire Chief Scott Wodzinski and Police Chief Matthew Pinard issue the following statement after developments Thursday afternoon regarding the situation at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley.
“First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, including those here in Littleton, and our best wishes are with those who have been sickened by this terrible disease.
“This has been a long and difficult week. We have been in touch with families that have loved ones in the Life Care Center facility. Today alone, we have had numerous calls with the Department of Public Health, the Massachusetts National Guard, our Board of Health Director and our elected officials in Boston and Washington.
“We continue to aggressively monitor the situation at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, after serious concerns were brought forward to the Town by the Littleton Fire Department and our Board of Health Director.
“With the assistance of our legislative delegation, we have confirmed that the Massachusetts National Guard has contacted the administration of Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, and the Guard will mobilize and respond to the facility tomorrow, and our understanding is that extensive testing will take place among the residents.
“We sincerely appreciate the hard work of the Department of Public Health, the Massachusetts National Guard and our legislative leaders, including US Congresswoman Lori Trahan, State Senator James Eldridge, and State Rep. James Arciero, all three of whom attended a virtual emergency Littleton Board of Selectmen meeting earlier today. We greatly appreciate the support of our elected and appointed leaders.
“It is our sincere hope that the actions taken today will save lives and further ensure that those vulnerable members of our communities under long-term care, will be protected as much as possible from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
